The leather construction provides a clean, traditional look while the leather toe can handle toe-slide techniques that would make us considerably less enthusiastic about sacrificing your favorite pair of sneakers. Where this shoe really comes alive is underneath. For a traditional low-riding Cali setup with phenolic slider wheels, Frankenskates recommends pairing the Frankie Addams with a Sure-Grip Century Stopless or Sure-Grip LoRide plate. Both lend themselves naturally to the low, clean configuration associated with the style. Want more wheel underneath you? The Frankie Addams can also serve as the foundation for builds using larger conventional wheels, where your plate options open up considerably. Choose the geometry and wheelbase that fit the way you actually skate.
